Can you still climb it? I did climb in but I think they were going to ban that soon after. It is STEEP..and having old tourists attempt to climb..only to stop half way and ask for help is just too risky.

I've actually been inside the throne room in the middle of the pyramid. Super cool - not really, hot and humid. There is a carved jaguar throne that was behind some serious steel bars. Ceiling only about 5'10' tall and the staircase is even smaller.

I was saddened when they made it off limits cuz the view really gives you a sense of the city and the surrounding countryside but they had to. I witnessed myself the massively disrespectful antics of a bus load of aholes from north of the border.

It is a fantastic site still and if you ever get the chance you should go.

I climbed jit in the 90s. In person there were fuckloads of people going up and down. Our tour guide even gave us some tips on how to not fall.
