It took me several years after puberty before I realized that I didn’t need to buy shoes with extra room.

Same. When my mom bought me this hoodie in 2014, she said I'll look good in it later (totally overlooking the fact that I looked like a coat hanger at the moment).

Lol. As a mom that likes to buy larger winter wear for my kids I absolutely am aware of how it looks. The plus side is that it's much longer than the one that would have fit them perfectly, so it would also keep their little bottoms warm.

Hmm... I see. So that's the reason. Now, will you face the judges of the holy sanctum of moms for revealing this secret?

I kept doing that way later than I should have. Ended up with a bunch of larges when I'm the small end of medium

My parents did that with tshirts when I shot up 8 inches in a school year, assuming I'd fill out later. I never did. Now I've got a bunch of old medium shirts that I look like I'm drowning in

I come from a relatively tall family (mom and dad are both at the 6’ mark) with an older brother of 8 years who was around 6’ at the time this happened. We went to England to see family, went to a Newcastle match while there, and I reallllly wanted a goalkeepers jersey. This is back when they were made by Adidas and pretty damn good quality. Thing is dad made me get one that came down to damn near my knees.

Well, that was at least 15-20 years ago (currently in my late twenties) and now at 6’5” I still wear that jersey on a weekly basis, and it fits perfectly. Like exactly where I’d want the waist to fall, arms are the perfect length, right amount of space for my body. Like he nailed the sizing right there, just guessed what I’d turn in to as I grew.

I still have a 25yr old shirt in my drawer. Not sure what magic it's made of, but it's both comfortable and durable.

I've got clothes that are 10 years old and still fit. Of course I stopped growing 25 years ago.

how do you wear it regularly and keep it looking that new? i have hoodies that look older than that after 6 months.

2

brokebaritone OP t1_j5u8w9w wrote

I never wear this at home. I dont fold it. I hang it inside my cupboard always. I'm extremely cautious when wearing this outside - never actually dropped food, cut, smudged or tripped while wearing this. I avoid it when I'm supposed to do a phyisical activity. The cloth has loosened and stretched a bit though.

Mom doesn't wash it often. But when she does, she always hand-washes it with cold water and air dry it. I dunno if it helps but she uses a fabric softener with it, I guess. Also its good quality fabric on its own. Even I'm surprised this lasted 9 years and counting.

Well, you look like you'll need to put some work in to double your size again over the next nine years. Start lifting! Those shoulders arent going to get there without effort.

I am telling you that those strands are not the same size. You becoming taller does not mean that the cords became smaller.
