I understand, but on the other hand Helsinki is relatively small. 1,3 million inhabitants in the urban area. The same size as Nashville and Salt Lake City.

More places need cobblestone streets, they are just the best looking and also dont need to pave them every year.

I’m right there with you. Among a few of the reasons I frequently daydream about moving from the US is the ridiculous level of car centric design in contrast to pedestrian infrastructure and the whole mentality that comes from that. Recently there’s been a slight movement to de-car some cities and there is a growing consensus about how bad car-centricism actually is for desirability and livability but it’s not enough and probably won’t amount to much in our lifetimes. Sigh.

I think one million inhabitants is enough size for a city. My city has similar population and even then I think there are so many people sometimes.
