It's really hit or miss. Some requests sit for weeks without a response and some are a bit faster. Some enter a "In Progress" state just to be closed with a "nothing to do" notation.

It might depend on the type of request and to what department it is funneled. Overall I'd say that it's a system that is 50% effective.

The few I've submitted I've gotten really quick replies. Like a few hours later max. I'd maybe try it again or call.

Depends. Sometimes they respond next-day. Sometimes they don't.

My least-helpful 311 experience was reporting an issue that only occurred in the evening, and the crew apparently showed up in the morning, reported that the problem couldn't be located, and closed the ticket.

What did you report? Did you receive the email logging your issue? I’ve filed a few service requests online - they fixed the knocked down stop sign I told them about the very next day. I’m guessing they triage based on the seriousness and urgency of the issue and number of tickets they get about it.

I reported a dangerous intersection near me that could use some new signage

Signage is tough. There are a lot of regulations and restrictions regarding signage, so it can be a lot more complicated than you think.

The response is not the solution. It should be assigned an order number rather quickly. It can be done anonomously thru the website and in that case you won't get a response.

I never got a response the one time I used it.

It really depends. A truck took out our street name sign, and it was replaced in ~48 hrs. Pothole on a side street? Ehhh a week? Maybe more, depending on if it’s patching season. More general requests (our neighborhood has some bad intersections that need signage) may take a loooot longer
