A loud "bang"

Anyone hear a massively loud bang in Swissvale probably by the police station ((around 1040p))? The power completely cut for a few seconds everywhere.. Street lights took a couple mins to turn back on.

Transformer blew at the wilkinburg substation - whole bunch of transformers on that grid blew as well, they're now reporting a brush fire at the substation

Lol Duquesne Light sucks. A couple years ago I lost power for 3 days in 100 degree weather. That was fun.

Shits old, and the temperature swings probably mean a different load on the grid as people run other appliances. Also with multiple it was probably a chain reaction to some extent.

I don't think they have any way to monitor transformers remotely, which I guess could be the way to be preventative vs. reactive but that costs money and most companies are allergic to spending.

This speculation brought to you by someone who is totally unqualified but taking an educated guess.
