I'm sure I'm not the only one but I always try to avoid following someone with stuff in the bed of their truck, even when it isn't ridiculous like this.

I know there are some handy people out there, but I also know how stupid some people are and I never want to blindly trust the guy in front of me knows how to safely strap everything down

You're not safe in front of them either! I once saw a pickup truck on the Parkway with a load of 2x4s on a ladder rack. Driver hit the brakes too hard and the whole load got launched forward off the top of the truck.

Thank you, I don't trust my own straps enough for the people behind me

I've worked with commercial pallet recyclers before. They don't stack pallets more than 14 high on their deck-over trailers due to height restrictions. I see 22 pallets in the stack, plus who knows how many hidden behind the tailgate. He's definitely going to hit a tunnel, bridge, or power line.

Probably the train overpass near the Greyhound.

CL-MotoTech t1_j9jvbas wrote

A normal pallet is usually 6.5" tall. So 22 of them put it at nearly 12 feet of pallets. Add in the height of the bed, at least 2 feet (just guessing), this at least 14' tall. 13'6" is the max height for vehicles.

Edit: and that's 12 feet above the top of the bed sides, so actually probably way over.

The pallet balancer truck is required to be too small for the amount it carries when it carries old pallets.

The one time I saw a truck filled with brand new pallets, it was on a brand new trick that was perfectly sized for the load it carried.

Incredibly selfish and reckless. He should have been pulled over and prevented from driving.

As someone who has moved a lot of pallets through the city, and often strapped on it ridiculous ways… this is too much. That’s seriously too heavy

Omg, I had to look twice to make sure that wasn't us!

Pallets make a nice, hot, quick morning fire in the woodstove and good kindling otherwise.

So this is… ridiculous, but also well done compared to others I’ve seen which have shifted with turns.

I just can’t help but to picture the set up on how to get it this high in the first place. Did someone stack this and then use a forklift to put it in the truck as one unit? Did they have super big ladders to pack it this high? I want to know about the “how” more than anything.

And there’s no way, they aren’t super proud to pull this off.
