I've been told you can get it done there but when I look up where and how I get nothing or it shows me stuff for other states.

Same - sub-15 minutes for a renewal with Real ID upgrade.
Thank you very much, my aunt said AAA renewed state id's so they could probably issue me one. What all do I need for a state id out of curiosity? I know birth certificate and social security card but anything else?
Only certain centers do real id in person while you wait (ie walk out.with.a real id). I'm pretty sure the ones in AAA don't.
You can look up real id locations online.
https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/Pages/REAL-ID-Center-Locations.aspx
But I agree with the above - bridgeville is super fast.
Why not go to a dmv
My aunt thought AAA did state id's and there's a AAA closer to me than a DMV. But since I now know AAA doesn't do state id's I have to go to the dmv
If you're young enough, PA might have all the data required for real ID on file already. I'd check out PennDOT's site. They should have all the information you need on it and may even discuss if messenger services (i.e. AAA) can assist in any part.
I'm 18 so I doubt it, thank you though
It looks like you probably are:

Just a reminder that the deadline for Pennsylvania REAL ID has been kicked down the road multiple times and is currently May 2025
Wym deadline?
From https://www.pa.gov/guides/real-id-pennsylvania/
>Beginning May 7, 2025, Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, photo ID card, or another form of federally-acceptable identification (such as a valid passport or military ID) to board a domestic commercial flight or enter a federal building or military installation that requires ID.
I still don't understand what that means
That mainly means they will not accept a PA drivers license or regular ID to fly, you must carry a passport or a have RealID.
If you also have to go into a federal building that requires identification (think jail, federal reserve, etc) or onto a military base, same thing applies.
I see, I don't ever plan on flying or joining the military so this doesn't affect me. Thank you though for letting me know

The deadline is when a normal PA ID will no longer be accepted as valid identification for federal purposes.
PA still issues regular IDs and you are not required to get a real ID. However, you will need a second form of id that is accepted by the federal government (such as a passport or military id) if you want to fly or enter a federal facility.
You can switch to real id at any time and PennDOT issue you a real ID valid for 4 years plus the remaining validity on your existing id.
Real ID is not a passport.
fwiw, Real ID has been a thing for like 20 years now and has been continually kicked down the road. PA had a law stating (weakly) that they would not comply since the federal government didn't fund it. iirc, the trump admin refused to continue offering waivers for PA and, at that point, PA started to take steps to implement the program. I 'm guessing that the latest postponements are pandemic-related.
Is there any reason to get a state id over a real ID (or vise versa)?
Same thing really but the real id has supposedly better verification as to you being who you say you are.
OK, thank you. Quick question what do I need for the real ID? Birth certificate, social security card, and anything else?
Piece of mail with your current address or your vehicle registration if you have it.
Just those 3 things? Do I need to send it to the dmv by mail or just bring those in with me? Also I've read that I have to fill out some sort of form and have Google doesn't give me a clear answer if I have to print it, fill it out, and bring it with me or if they'll give me said form at the dmv
If you go to Bridgeville take your docs and you do all the paperwork on site. ETA: https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/Pages/default.aspx
OK, thank you so very much
It means Pennsylvania gets ,$30 from you. Ridiculous
Real IDs can only be issued same day at certain PA DMVs...Bridgeville is one of them.
you can go to AAA for a real ID as long as you have the right photo card for it and are ok with waiting up to 15 days to receive it.
I applied for real ID online after getting pre-verified (https://www.dmv.pa.gov/REALID/Pages/REAL-ID-Pre-Verification.aspx) and then took the photo card they mailed me to AAA, then I was mailed the updated card. You might need to go to the DMV if you need to have your documents verified.

Just chiming in to say I stopped by the Jeannette DMV to renew my license when I was in Westmoreland County one day on business, and was in and out pronto. So efficient, it would've been worth the drive alone.
Jeannette will process and issue Real ID on the spot.

I know the AAA on 51 in west mifflin does licenses. However the dmv in bridgeville is insanely fast. I was in and out with a license renewal in 7 minutes
