as the title says... my friend and I have been searching for one online, without much success so far. We're hoping to find one where we can rent a plot and/or work volunteer shifts to maintain an existing garden... any suggestions? We've tried exploring the Grow Pittsburgh site but it was a bit confusing and most of the spots on their map we looked at were dead ends.

Crafton has a nice-size community garden and always welcomed volunteers, although most of the produce is donated to the Crafton-Ingram food bank. Not sure if you’re looking specifically for one where you keep some of the harvest.
Drive around your area and look for properties with large or double lots, often corner lots and ask the owner to rent part of it
I think it would be ideal to keep a little of the harvest but it’s definitely not a requirement. Thanks for the rec!

Today is actually open sign up day for McKeesport Community Garden. You put $30 down for a bed, and you get $10 back at the end of the season.
They have regular work partnership days, they ask you to try and attend a few each season, and you're expected to attend two meetings a year.

there is a community garden heading up Stanton Ave. from Butler st., bordering Stanton Heights and the Allegheny Cemetery. Not too sure on how it is managed however.
Check the city’s website. They have all the info for each garden and can put you on a waitlist if there are no open plots.
I was a member of Bandi Schaum in south side park, they usually have space.

The person in charge of signups is active in the Stanton Heights Neighborhood Association and the I <3 Stanton Heights Facebook page. I’d post on Facebook or contact the association for details about the garden.
I'm pretty sure there's something like that on Penn Ave lots of plots and what I assume is plants and flowers. In Garfield next to spork

Sharpsburg has a small one!
Polish Hill has a lot going on with West Penn Community Farm, which grows for Jubilee Food Pantry, as well as for an urban food forest. Get in touch with the green team at the Polish Hill Civic Association, and they can point you in a good direction!

i signed up for a plot like 3 years ago at the one in highland park off stanton. was told it was waitlisted a year. emailed back 2 years ago to see if i made the list, was told its several more years. emailed back last year and this year and no response.
we walk by this daily, and see 1/3 of the plots lay fallow, and 1/2 are completely overgrown/untouched by late june.
Should i go guerilla gardening there? or should i go to a city meeting? so frustrating.
