Tranc. that shit is nasty. It'll cause massive skin ulcers. It also is unable to be reversed, so even if you hit them with narcan, the person will still stay in a stupor because tranc doesn't hit opioid receptors. It's all over Philly and it's turned Kensington into a nightmare (by way of Puerto Rico, where it's been used for years).

It's added into heroin/fentanyl to increase the high.

It's also a legal, non-controlled substance used in vet anesthesia, which is where it's being diverted from. The DEA needs to schedule this med ASAP.

Yohimbine and several other a2 antagonists reverse it, but not nearly as well as narcan does for opiates (no sudden reversal like narcan, it can take up to 20 minutes to take wake up an animal patient after administration, if it's not too late), and it's not something regularly kept in any med kit outside of vet med, and only there when xylazine is used (typically purchased when the xylazine is purchased, and never at any other point). Also, the safety margin for xylazine is REALLY small.

I think the safety margin in humans is much greater given the large uncontrolled trial going on in Philly. I do think the sleeping for 24+ hours with it can be dangerous if you're exposed to the elements or not eating but it doesn't seem like it kills humans. And I'm assuming people are just shooting themselves up with massive doses.

It probably is safer for humans, i know with small animals a small error in calculations can be deadly pretty quickly.

All those extra lbs add a safety buffer.
