I have similar proposals from both companies for adding A/C and a separate minisplit system to my house. I would like to go with the one that will be best during installation and in the long term for service calls. Do any of yinz have strong opinions of either company? Would love to hear!
Some part in our furnace seized up about 2 months outside the 1 year full coverage warranty through JA Sauer. The part would have been covered under the 10 year manufacturer warranty, but we would have had to pay (quite a bit) for the labor. The JA Sauer tech told me that he was going to request the labor be covered since we were only 2 months outside the 1 year warranty, and he got it approved—we only ended up having to pay their standard fee for the initial service call ($75 I think?) and nothing else, even though we were technically outside the warranty. All of this to say, JA Sauer is reputable and fair in my experience.
My friend has worked for Metro for years and he’s a great guy. That’s all I know about either sorry hah
I used metro a lot. They yelled at once to change my filter. So I trust them.
I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either.
Our house had JA Sauer as the maintenance folks when we moved in, so we called them and signed up for their service. They've been personable, polite, and they do good work. Signing up for their plan (2 tune ups per year included) also includes a discount should you need parts. Honestly, for the savings we've had between the tune-ups and their quality of work, I can't recommend them enough.
We have the same thing. The techs are super nice too.
JA does preventative maintenance on my AC and furnace. They get my vote, they're professional, on time, very personable. Solid
Our furnace broke 2 years ago. No one could figure which part was the problem. JA Sauer came out 3 or 4 times, trying everything. They never charged me a dime until it was finally fixed. And then, only for the parts/labor related to the eventual solution (got a lot of free components, lol). Every tech was nice, and were super honest about their initial failures. Despite the challenges, I’d use them again in s heartbeat.
I've used JA Sauer for years. Had them install a whole new furnace a few years back and the cost was reasonable. I also get the yearly inspection for both heating and cooling every year and it runs about $175. Reminds me, I need to get that appointment set up!
Give Phillips Hearing and Air conditioning a try for an estimate.
They did my furnace here and a boiler at my mom's old house. Very good work.
Only used Metro between the two. I had numerous folks including climatech and others tell me what I wanted was not possible and tried to sell me something I didn’t want. Truly had 10 or so folks all come out. Metro came out said it was possible and they could do it and stuck to their estimate. I have recommended them to numerous others since. Very happy. But based on comments. Sounds like either will be good. Good to have options.
We have had good success with Wade Heating. Installed a mini split and have done some maintenance
JA Sauer did my whole new home build and they are and were excellent!

I had JA Sauer do an emergency repair on my gas furnace last year (called them because they had installed the furnace way back in 93 according to the servicing sticker, long before I even owned the house... I would have been 11 that year lol)... they looked at it, identified the problem, but said with the age of the furnace they may not be able to find the part. They found it though... and did the repair rather than just trying to replace it. So I was happy and felt it showed a degree of honesty. I don't know much about metro to compare., but JA Sauer is reputable in my opinion.
