At approximately 6:17 there were 9 gunshots up my street, I called 911, and within 3 minutes there were myriad first responders on-site, with an ambulance included and police cruisers fanning out in the direction of a fleeing car.
I'm rather impressed.
Yep, part of the reason why the UPMC scare earlier this week was taken so seriously, I have never personally seen so many police officers converge on a site so quickly before.
Yeah my daughter was caught in it also.
.. and today has proven that it was all for good reason.
They are probably a little geared up at the moment with the multiple high profile shootings that have occurred lately. Their response to the Penn Ave city high shooting was damn lightning.
Around 3 pm I saw a SWAT truck drive past a place I was working in squirrel hill. When I left 2.5 hours later, he was still chilling half a block down just out of sight. Only as I type this did I realize that it’s the anniversary of the Tree of Life. edit So yeah anyway- lots of cops on alert today

It's not about how fast they heard about it, it's about how fast they showed up. We've had shootings here where they don't show up for 20-30+ minutes
I mean if the sensors pick up 9 gunshots that sounds pretty serious. That's probably going to get more than a small slow response
Got hit and run in lawrenceville the other week and they were there within 10 min then followed up within 2 weeks as well.
Very impressed as well.

I heard some gunshots very late night a few weeks ago, sounded to be within a block or two away. Immediately turned on the scanner, By the time I had the scanner on dispatch was sending cars because the shots were picked up on a shotspotter. Cars were there under two minutes. I was surprised as no one called it in, they responded on the basis of the shotspotter only. They found casings in the alley but no one around and no one hurt. Very weird but very fast, pleased about that part.
And this is why we shouldn’t defund the police.
The defund the police movement isn't about eliminating cops for actual cop shit.
Because they came to a shooting quickly one time?
Yes. Less police would mean less response time

It’s the anniversary of Tree of Life they have been on high alert all week. They indicated this at a recent active shooter/threat training.
