Hey guys my cousin has Medicaid, the UPMC For You plan. Called but couldn't get a hold of anyone. He was wondering if the new Bivalent Covid vaccine is covered? He already has had 3 shots. The initial two in April/May 2021 and then a booster in February 2022. He's 25 yr old male.

Ok, let's just assume that's correct. Does getting the vaccine stop you from getting Covid? No. It does not. Therefore, you're unnecessarily accumulating risk factors. By unnecessarily vaccinating, you're simply adding vaccine induced myocarditis risk to underlying background risk and covid-induced risk. Do you understand what I'm saying?

Covid vaccines are still free regardless of insurance status, though that may be ending as soon as January.

Though I won't be surprised if the Covid boosters end up being classified as among the vaccines that private insurers must cover 100% once the government purchase program ends.
