My wife hit one about a week ago. Good luck getting into a body shop if you do hit one.

I know. I'm scheduled for December 5th. Earliest they could do. At least my vehicle is drivable.

And good luck with all the extra time for parts and labor due to short staff even when you do get in.

We hit one a week before Christmas last year. Nearly totaled it even though it was only body damage and it wasn’t legally drivable. Didn’t get the car back for over 6 weeks and that’s only because we were able to get in early due to a cancellation. The car insurance only covered a rental car for 30 days so I had to drive my wife to work for a couple weeks.

Yeah we hit one right before thanksgiving last year and it was around new years that we got it back. Geico were refusing to pay for OEM parts and wanted to use crappy third parties (according to my body shop), so that added a lot of time too. And then they took forever to pay him, so I almost had to pay out of pocket. Switched insurance companies after that

Hit a deer earlier this year in my subaru. Took almost 2 months to fix due to parts availability. Luckily my insurance covered the rental the entire time.

Yep - my wife hit one in early September in her van, the shop scheduled her to look at the vehicle in early October, and then finally scheduled her repair for early December. Figure she'll get it back maybe February or so.

Lesson learned: Now's a good time to check your rental car insurance coverage. We've got $30/day for 30 days max which means we'll mostly be out of pocket for a reasonable replacement, especially when you consider rising rental car costs. You don't need it until you need it.

Yeah not deer related but I hit something on the road that gave me a flat and also a bit of body damage. Dealer replaced the tire but suggested a body shop for the rest. I called 5 different body shops and earliest appointment just to take it in and get an estimate for insurance was a month out.
