I got a street parking ticket today at 11:52 and park mobile says that I began payment at 11:56. I got out of my car and tried to pay on the app but it wasn’t loading so I gave it a few more minutes and paid when I went into my building. Has anyone has experience getting off of a ticket like this? I’m just so annoyed that I already paid $12 on the app for parking and I got a $40 ticket unknowingly 4 minutes before. I don’t want to double pay

Wouldn't it look like you noticed you were being/had been ticketed and tried to pay through the app at the same time to save face?

I was able to lower the fine when I got a ticket because the meter wasn’t accepting cards or coins and I was ticketed in the time it took to download app and pay. Probably a similar time difference and also I imagine they ticketed a ton of people because the meter was broken

I racked up some parking tickets when I worked downtown. Best advice I can give is on the back of the ticket, it will give you the info to contest online. Just state exactly what you did above for your reasoning and they usually lower the fine. You have nothing to lose by contesting, the worst thing they can do is say no. But with the app not loading that wasn’t in your control and I think is a valid excuse to be dismissed or lowered.

Parking authority gives zero fucks.

However if you contest just by groveling they will lower the fine 99% of the time.

I mean you were parked there without paying. Even if it was just 5 minutes. You can try to fight it but you also could have just used one of the machines if the app wasn’t working.
