If something is the leading cause of death, we should be trying to fix it by looking at the real causes of it. No one is putting fentanyl in candy or randomly sending it in the mail. That kind of rhetoric from Oz and co. only serves to muddy the discourse around a very real problem.

As an aside, plenty of people find humor in tragedy and joking about it can be cathartic. There are plenty of ways to joke around without undercutting the larger issue.

I have family members who have died from fentanyl. Oz and other Republicans who try to use it as a weapon against Democrats are pure scum.

That's a weird way to spell Accidents (unintentional injuries), which are the actual #1 cause of death for the 18-45 group. The statistic you're citing makes incorrect assumptions about the cause of those deaths, and there isn't data to back it.

They’re catching a fraction. And the number they’re catching is way up because the amount trying to get in is way up. You’re just being obtuse. Or you’re genuinely not very bright to understand what the numbers truly mean. You probably think inflation is good and that Biden is the best President ever. Then why arent fentanyl deaths dramatically up? I mean when your boy donny was in his penultimate year 70k people died. 90k in 2020. Was it because he was soft on china? Or couldnt control the borders properly? I actually take issue with Biden on a ton of issues and can openly say that because I’m not a cult member.

Apologies, that was total drug deaths. When the total opioid deaths rose from ~48k to 70k between 2019 and 2020 was that a dramatic increase? Whose fault was it specifically?

Here’s the thing. Its multifaceted, and is as much as it was in the time period I gave you. I dont blame Trump for an increase in opioid deaths during his tenure. I also dont blame Biden. I blame a global depression/recession, a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic with lockdowns occurring during both presidencies, increased foreign manufacturing of opioid and opioid precursors in China, India, Mexico, the war on drugs, the lack of harm prevention services in rural communities, lack of affordable rehabilitation. Im sure I could go on and on.
