Hi I moved up to the Pittsburgh area about 7 months ago. I have been trying to get into the music scene (Production and Engineering) have no experience except for being what you call a “bedroom producer” never gotten serious with it but music is my passion. If anyone has any tips or suggestions on how to get out there please feel free to guide me❤️

How much music theory do you know? To be a competent professional producer you need to be skilled in composition at least. I think Duquesne has a music production major and it’s quite theory-intensive.

The Fender Room (if they still have it) was pretty cool back when I toured their school of music program

Not great at music theory. I know how to read music a bit since I have played instruments in the past, but I never got serious with music theory up until wanting to learn now lol. Do they start at a beginners level?

You’ll have to ask them. I’m not deeply familiar with duq’s program, my kid goes to a school in Virginia for production and their program is pretty rigorous.

I think puffy used to clean the floors at a production company to get his foot in the door
