Telescope Store?

I'd like to get a telescope, good enough to be able to see Saturn. Supposedly online, this can be done in a price range I can afford. However, when I type "telescope store" etc., all the results are Target, Barnes and Noble, Walmart. I'd like to find a local astronomy specialist shop if possible. Thanks.

Im pretty sure there isn’t a local specialist shop. The science center sells some small ones I believe, but you’re much better going online (Celestron and Meade are two popular brands). r/telescopes can help you choose one. There’s also star parties run by the amateur astronomy association of Pittsburgh where you can look through theirs, and the science center used to do a similar event pre-pandemic .

I always like going to specialty shops instead of online when possible, but a telescope shop might be a hard thing to find IRL. My first instinct is to try B&H Photo.

Look at High Point Scientific online. They have a good selection of beginner telescopes and fast shipping. I bought an 8" Dob from them two years back and it's been great.

You ought to be able to call up Amateur astronomers pittsburgh and ask for reco's and more. https://3ap.org/ Note - I have never called them myself but that group does several stargazing nights over summer and seem friendly and approachable.

I’m not sure if they will have the kind of telescope you were looking for, but I believe the gift shop at the Carnegie science center has a few pretty fancy telescopes for sale
