You can contest the ticket, but you will not win; however, the court will normally reduce the fine by a lot if you just say you’re sorry and had extenuating circumstances and that you’ll pay more attention in the future.

Thank you for the advice. I plan to be very penitent haha. Do you think I would have better luck contesting online vs contesting in person?

Have you ever contested before? If in-person, do you know how long before I have before I have to make an appearance? I'm leaving town for a while this weekend.

I’ve only ever done it pre-covid. I don’t know what the timeline looks like now, but hopefully someone else here can give you more info.

You can contest it online, just write a simple explanation in the online form, they usually reduce it by at least half,
