Just did a weekend in Akron, exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park. 2.5 hours away, decent outdoor recreation. Akron is big enough to have good restaurants, I’m sure some museums, etc.

Did you do the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad!? They have a trip that goes through the National Park. We did it last year and it was pretty cool (albeit it slightly too long as we did the entire loop and it was like 3.5 to 4 hours maybe).

We bought tickets but all of the railroad trips were canceled last minute due to erosion of the track bed.

Ah crap, that stinks. But it's cool enough to do a daytrip just for the railroad so maybe in the future.

I went to college in Akron before moving out to Pittsburgh. It's a fun city with a lot of hidden gems! Only downside is it is very much a commuter city, and most restaurants in the downtown area are closed (or have very limited hours) on the weekend.
