Does anyone know of vet clinics accepting new patients? My cat was injured over the weekend. It’s looking like he’ll make a strong recovery. He’ll need some follow up appointments for x-rays, changed bandages, and changed splints. The emergency bills are eating me up right now so I’m hoping to find a place that helps people that can’t afford as much… Any suggestions in the Pittsburgh area welcome, I’m located near downtown/north shore.

Rivers Veterinary Urgent Care. They do walk ins on all days except Sunday (closed) and Wednesdays (wellness appointments). They don't do billing or payment plans but accept Care Credit and Scratchpay and they are much less expensive than ER or specialty, although they can do pretty much anything.

Thank you. I actually booked a follow up at PetVet365. If you tell me that place sucks tho I’ll keep calling around

ETA: I already took out some care credit so really hoping I can just keep this lower cost. I’m also working to try to get assistance from a local fund so that may help

I'm actually not familiar with PetVet. If you end up not happy, you can always go elsewhere.

Petvet365 recently saw my kitty for an emergency. The staff was great but it was NOT cheap. We usually go to North Boros and I've always found them to be reasonably affordable

Not sure if it fits your bill, but Safe Haven just opened an "Urgent Care" in Wexford. Their website hasn't been completely updated but from a FB post that was shared :

> New Veterinary Urgent Care in the North Pittsburgh area!! Safe Haven Veterinary Hospital is now open and accepting canine/feline patients!!
13085 Perry Highway Wexford PA 15090 (724) 591-8393 8a-6p Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday No appointment necessary. Walk in services available for your pet’s acute illnesses.

Run by a vet who left a certain 5-letter emergency vet in the North Hills after being bought out (as discussed in many other threads in /r/pittsburgh in detail).

The people I’m working with now may be able to get me in there through a referral! The dr’s I’m working with have been super understanding and are referring me there. Ultimately, its cost + timing for where I’ll take him. Thank you so much.
