I saw it the week after it opened. I’ve warning everyone who asks - it’s very heavy. I feel like past Internationals have had more joy and whimsy to them - or at least a balance of serious topics and playfulness. But this one just brought me down. A lot of work about war, displacement, injustices, and oppression. I feel like I learned a lot from the show, but needed a breather and went and got a coffee at the cafe before continuing on.

I don’t think it was actually any smaller than years before - but it didn’t have any truly stand out pieces than past iterations of the show.

Was definitely very dark. Some great pieces but would prefer less war stuff.

Yeah it was ok. I just moved here so I don't know about previous ones. But it did seem smaller than I was expecting given the amount of artists involved.

I can’t say it was significantly smaller than previous exhibitions, but typically it would over take a few other adjacent rooms, and have multiple full room installations.

I think there were more artists than normal and therefore smaller pieces. That said I think they covered all the spaces they've ever covered and also reinstalled most of the permanent collection. It's a big exhibition for sure.

Lookup Teenie Harris. He never would have wanted his works displayed in a place like this especially behind a $40 paywall or whatever price.

edit: not to mention i actually worked there and they treated all of their employees like shit. Especially the worst of them all: The Carnegie Cafe
