Hey ladies and gents, haven't eaten at the Triangle @Swissvale in years and I've never visited the Anchor bar in North Versailles. Understanding they are both very similar...which one has the better hoagie? Any recommendations? Maybe some tips on what to order that only locals know about?

I do love Triangle. I'll have to check out Anchor sometime soon. North Versailles?

Triangle is so overrated. It's a bar version of a high school band fundraiser hoagie. The texture of the meat is just wrong.

A solid Italian hoagie in that area can be found at Shelly's Pie in Turtle Creek, or Rudy's or Carhops in Monroeville.

carhops steak hoagie, the z-28, is fire. I like the super sport for their italian. that pepper relish is delicious.

the owner and his daughter are always so nice as well. I wish I wanted hoagies more because i only go there a few times a year, but its always great and its nice talking with such nice people.

if I’m just responding to the original post, I would have to pick the triangle. But I saw another commenter mention car hops. That hoagie is fantastic.

The triangle hogie... In reality it shouldn't be anything special just by looking at it. But damn is it good. I don't know what it is. I would cross multiple bridges to go get one.

Lol Triangle is a little dirty. Tasty, but very uh... selectively hygenic. Anchor is squeaky clean and run by the guy who owns triangles nephew (they had a huge fight).

I've eaten at both multiple times as I'm super close to someone who has worked both places.

I love fundraiser hoagies. But you can't compare the two unless it comes with a teeny tiny bag of lettuce that turns brown in one day, two tomato slices, and 1 maybe 2 packets of dressing for a >12" hoagie. Topping/condiment scarcity is part of the experience.

My recommendation is to just get the Sheetz Italian hoagie. It's pretty good.
