Hi everyone - has anyone rented out a movie theater recently - just wondering which theater and about how much it costs.

I know that Waterworks used to do this, but I've not been able to verify.

I was hoping to rent out the theater for a family event. Thought I'd ask and see if anyone had done a rental recently.

Thanks!

Idk about a commercial sized theater or even row house but I bet if you contact The Parkway Theater in McKees Rocks they’d rent it to you fairly.

We rented out the Century Square Cinema in West Mifflin for my sons birthday in 2021. They were doing a lot of rentals like that then, we had a private screening for just 10.

I called again about doing the same in 2022 and they weren’t doing the private showing anymore, but they were still doing birthday parties where you get the private room beside the theater for pizza/cake and then tickets to the showing, but open to the public.

Hope that info helps.

We did a private screening of Spider Man last year at the Mills. It was $125 I think. I would recommend that Since you’re considering Oakmont/Cheswick and it’s only 5/10 minutes from there

The Manor Theatre in Squirrel Hill is open to the public for private parties and special events but sorry I have no idea of pricing.

I work for the Manor Theatre in Squirrel Hill and I can confirm that we do offer private theater rentals. The pricing depends on the type of film you want played (e.g. new release, film not currently in theaters, personal documentary, etc.), how many people will be attending, the time and day you want to rent, and whether you want you want the concessions and bar available (if renting outside of normal theater hours).

So there are a lot of variables on the pricing but I will say that one of the more unique things about renting there is that you can have pretty much any movie you’d like played as long as you have it in DVD format (if not a new release or filmmaker’s documentary).

For a very basic rental, say at 10am on a Monday or 11pm on a Tuesday, with only a handful of people, and you bring your own DVD, it’ll be roughly $250-300.

But if you’re interested, feel free to DM me and I’ll be happy to go over it in more detail and get you an actual quote.
