Last time this happened to me it was $55. They asked for me to send it back, I said no and did an immediate transfer to my checking.

They went to venmo for a refund but since my account was at zero Venmo added then removed $55 from my account. That bit was even weirder than the scam in the first place.

That’s oddly suspicious. Sorry that happened to you but thanks for sharing. It’s sitting in Venmo. They emailed me back today and said an agent will reach out about my case within 24 hours. 👀

It was actually two scammers in the span of about 5 minutes. One for $15 and one for $40.
