I live near the border of Bloomfield and Shadyside, and will need to do car inspection for the first time since moving to Pittsburgh, sometime this january. I'm expecting and hoping that there won't be much to do, possibly just small things with brake pads or oil or whatnot, so I'm hoping to get out with the bear most minimum cost that I can. But in other places I've lived, I've had mechanics in car inspections recommend overpriced things to me that aren't necessary for inspection or safety, especially for a 2010 car, and I'm not well versed enough in cars to be able to tell the difference. Does anyone have a recommendation for a chain or non-chain auto shop that they would recommend for reasonably priced inspections? Preferably one that is a certified business, and not necessarily some guy working out of his garage.

Anyone that can issue an inspection sticker is a legit business. The biggest worry is them telling you need things done that aren’t required.
