hi friends, idk if this is allowed here but I figured I’d try.

I moved here a few months ago with the intention of continuing serving, but ended up just taking a lower paid retail job to have income for the time being. I’m sure that places are hiring but without really knowing where to look in person, my knowledge of the restaurant is often limited to what I can find on indeed and then google, which isn’t much.

I have about 5 years experience in a sports bar & lower end Italian, and about a year bartending in a dive bar, and so most of what I find on indeed is fine dining that I don’t get considered for due to lack of experience.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any restaurants that aren’t awful to work for that are hiring servers? I’m near whitehall but would be willing to drive further if needed. thank you:)

The Vandal in Lawrenceville was hiring as recently as last week- the owner, Joey, is a wonderful guy who cares about his people and pays well. If he isn't in need of a full time server now, he will probably be able to use you for catering et al.

Don’t sell yourself short. If you’re good and give a damn you can land a job at a higher end restaurant.

What are you located or what part of the city would you like to work in? It might help you get better suggestions.

Indeed and Craigslist actually have pretty decent leads for hospitality jobs. Indeed is how I got my job (hospitality management). A few places in the Strip are hiring now - Cinderlands for sure. If you can put up with insanely long shifts, try The Warren in downtown.

how long are we talking? my old place was super understaffed so I’m used to 10-11hrs if necessary but probably wouldn’t wanna do that more than a few days a week

About 12 hours shifts, but I think typically servers work 3 days a week. My husband was a bartender there - it’s good money, but pretty demanding. Also try Mt Washington area. It’s a little slower there this time of year, but tons of bars and restaurants.
