Have you looked for what units are currently for sale and then drill down from there? Or are you wanting to know the buildings in advance that meet your needs and wait for a unit to be for sale? The most new condo activity would likely be in the Strip. Unfortunately, it's the most underrepresented housing type in Pittsburgh.

Yes, I am doing both--looking online for units for sale & also asking for advice from people. I have a wheaten terrier & a himalayan cat, both are family to me. Can't bear to part with either, but I am retiring next year & will be 62 years old. The upkeep & maintenance of maintaining my current house in Highland Park, plus a rental property in HP is draining me emotionally & wiping me out financially. Time for a change.

Looking for condo or townhome complexes with amenities, that allowed pets & rentals. You are correct, there dont seem to be as many in Pgh as in other places!

What do you mean, rental? You want to rent a condo, or you want to rent out your condo or have an AirBnb when you aren't there?

I want to buy it as a 1031 (from sale of the duplex J own), rent it out 2 years. Then, move into it & sell my primary residence.

you should talk to a real estate agent who specializes in condos, when we were looking, a lot of places in N. Oakland were moving away from allowing rentals (parents would buy for their kids to live while at Pitt or CMU, then rent out after they graduated).

Park Plaza only does service animals and generally does not allow rentals. It is managed by RJ community so you might want to email them and see what properties allow that.

If you are using an agent then stress to them the importance of getting it early. Some agents and managers wanted to wait until you were closer to the offer but that is a waste of time IMO
