Big Jim’s in the Run! We went there the other weekend for the first time and had so much fun. The food was surprisingly delicious.
This!!
Chicken Parm sandwich the size of your head.
Nox’s in Blawnox
This place looks so sketchy and is phenomenal
Love Noxs, but they crammed too many tables in there recently
Yes! Just went there last week wings are awesome as well
I came here to say Nox’s but I’m happy to say that your answer was the first thing I saw. Holy shit I could go for their mushroom Swiss cheese burger right now.
A second location is opening soon.
Can’t wait till Noxs in Allison Park on Rt 8
they steam their burgers. best burger I've had in years. pro move: let your burger drip all over the chips before you eat the chips.
This is the right answer
Stinky's. Although smack dab in the middle of "hipster" Lawrenceville, Stinky's has some really good burgers and is off the beaten path. Might be a little too nice to be considered "divey, but is definitely casual. Sit in the back / restaurant side.
Not divey but best burger by far can be found at Applewood Smoke, which is tucked into the back of the Park Place bar on Bryant St in Highland Park. Best burgers and onion rings in this city.
This needs to be upvoted more! It’s the correct answer to this post.
It’s a bit divey, but not by Pittsburgh standards I guess.
100%
The Squirrel Cage has a pretty good burger.
came here to say this. will add that it went nonsmoking. best burger and fries for ten bucks.
Dad's Pub & Grub. Great burger but frankly all of their food is phenominal.
Was gonna make this rec, great spot
Everything I've gotten there has been great. You can tell a lot of it (like the hot sauce on their wings) is scratch-made.
Monroeville and Braddock locations are both good.
Ruggers Pub
JMOS in dormont has great craft burgers
Hog's Head on Spring Garden. That place is a fucking gem
JMOS in dormont
OTB cafe in the Southside. Thursdays are trivia night. Make sure to get there early if you decide to go on a Thursday. Thank me later :)
Gab and Eat in Carnegie
My man!
The huddle in beechview
I wouldn't call it divey or under the radar necessarily, but if your really looking for a hipster/nerd spot and you hate your arteries, go to Back to the Foodture.
For burgers, how about The Blue Goose Saloon on Mt. Royal Blvd. Half pound steakburgers, good drink specials just about every night, and we always get tots as a side.
But just down the hill in Etna is E Town, which has amazing fried food. Scratch made chicken tenders and provolone sticks.
Or just over the hill from there is Sidelines, which also has great burgers and a really good beer selection (and tots!)
Butterjoint if you want a bangin burger. Get there early for a seat at the bar.
Pittsburgh Sandwich Society truck at Strange Roots brewery in Millvale.
> Long story short, I’m having some fun back and forth banter with a girl I’ve been seeing who thinks I’m into all of the “hipster” spots.
And this is your recomendation?!
Imma be honest. I only read the title. Not the additional text.
It's a damn good burger though. If that's what you're looking for, then Sidelines around the corner from there.
Sidelines in Millvale is damn good
Fair enough, it just got a rise out of me.
I was going to recommend Five Guys, but others seem to have better non-chain suggestions.
Oh, how I miss Doubleday's!!!
Kelly's in East Liberty is divey, though not necessarily under the radar. It also has a good burger (and Mac and cheese).
Applewood Smoke Burger Company is what you're looking for. Talk about under the radar ...
Kellys in east liberty is a little more of an upscale-ish dive, and their burgers are top notch
Rockys in Scott haven....
Cappy’s
Tammy's in Mt Troy. It's a smoking bar but the burgers are still so good.
I wonder if this is the the same place where I went for burgers when I was in high school with my friend who lived on Troy Hill. I can’t remember what it was called.
I asked my friend and it was called Roehler’s.
You can get a burger at Cattivo the one or two times a week it’s actually open
Are they still only open 8pm-2am?
Yes.
Dari-villa in Bellevue.
The Carriage Inn in Elizabeth has an awesome burger special, but I'm not sure what night. They also have a really good wing special.
I forget their burger special, but i love going there for Wednesday Wings baby! It gets PACKED. I love the Carriage's Spicy Bison Burger. It's about the only restaurant in Elizabeth though, nothing else seems to last or be too good
I'll occasionally go to the Rose or Droopy's but the Carriage is def Elizabeth's safest, best bet
Pub 333 in Oakmont- their burger is really good.
what if this girl is on this thread?
Just had a burger at the Monterey Pub and it was super yummy. RIP Bier's Pub...
[deleted]
Monterey pub has a pretty decent burger.
Stinkys or Squirrel Cage
Elwood’s Pub in Rural Ridge.
Delucas in the strip or robinson twp. Both are solid, but theyre only open for breakfast and lunch. I usually get a cheeseburger with bacon and a fried egg.
Squirrel Cage
Tessaros.
The Cage.
Jabby Joe’s in McKees Rocks.
Tessaros is great. Diner atmosphere. Butcher on site
If you are in the north, new york hotdog shop is killer. Very reasonably priced (compared to similar places like eat n park) https://goo.gl/maps/XAjbv795xXjepor3A
Brighton Hotdog Shop in greentree is similar, but it feels more like fast food with how the restaurant is set up. Similar prices, smaller menu https://goo.gl/maps/E4MoaUU87EioefQU8
It's not under the radar, but Tessaro's in Bloomfield is a great place for burgers. It's also not a hipster joint or at all pretentious (and not even unpretentious in a pretentious way).
The Smiling Moose!
Tessaros in Bloomfield had a great burger combined their homemade potato salad.
Also Burgh’ers Brewing in Lawrenceville has a nice danty burger but it’s delicious. They claim it’s the best burger in town.
Tesaros
Not sure why you are getting downvoted for this one.
Because Tesaro's really isn't a dive. Also, while the burgers are still good, they're popularity trades on a bit of hype/nostalgia.

How about big Jim’s in 9 mile run or whatever that is down there. Fantastic sandwiches all around sort of divey
