Does anyone get anything close to 1Gbps? My speed tests are always below 500 and mostly around 350. Only thing reports close to 900Mbps is their plume HomePass app.

It seems my experience has been downgraded after they installed fiber. Time to time it’s unreliable as well. My Ethernet connected tv loses connection frequently, apps on tv takes forever to open.

Games takes forever to download in my ps4. 43GB game data today took 50mins on my ps4. Hardwired as well.

So I don’t have 1Gbps fiber. But I get the 500Mbps I pay for. When it has issues they have fixed them. Performance issues take a bit of persistence. Took a few calls. But they sent guys out and fixed it.

If you have not and can, test the performance hardwired at the router. Lost of thing can get in the way of getting a full gig to a wifi connected device.

This. And unplug/replug Cat 6 cables. I live on the thrifty side of life and my cables are down to a price point. Sometimes they need to be reconnected if there is any chance something has physically moved.

I got upgraded from HFC to GPON symmetrical gigabit in November and it’s been awesome. Now when I need to upload a large file for work it’s minutes instead of an hour plus, for example. I consistently get 940/940. This is hardwired though. Wireless networking depending on where in my home is 300-500, which is plenty for a mobile device. (I also use my own network equipment with a hardwired access point on each level of my home instead of their mesh system.)

Armstrong can be more expensive than the big providers but I find them easy to deal with support wise on the rare occasion I need to reach out.

In general you will not see 1Gbps per connection on wireless. Yes in theory it can be done but in the real world with typical consumer equipment in a home, it doesn’t happen. If you get 500+ Mbps per device your doing good. If you really want high speed you need to run a cable.

I'm paying for the 500Mbps service; I get around 560. I do a lot of downloading with it because of work and my speed is pretty rock solid. Only once in a while do I lose my internet and even then it's brief; it's been probably a year since last time that happened.

I run cables for tv and games consoles and stuff although my complaint is more about not as good experience before fiber upgrade. And no I never get 500. Plus all the reliability issues. I think there is some problem in the connection. I am going to contact Armstrong.

My self-terminated cables frequently negotiate down to 100Mb from 1000. Honestly, I gave up and bought a good wi-fi adapter which gets about 200Mb and 18ms pings, which is good enough for most of what I do. And then the leftover 800Mb of bandwidth, I don't have to worry about the kids DLing a PS5 game or streaming 4k.

Former Armstrong tech support here. Get rid of their router if you can and get your own. Have them give you a regular modem. I fought with mine for years because we were told it was required for the Tivo service. I've been using a Google mesh system in my house for years. 3 devices scattered around my house. I've had no issues since I got them.
