My friend is turning 21 this week. I haven’t been to many bars in the city so I’m not sure where to take them. What would be some good places???

What sort of atmosphere are you looking for? Because I can go from dive to upscale and brewery to cocktail bar.

If you want to have some beer, independent brewing company is great imo.

For a new 21 year old do the east Carson st gauntlet. It’s only fun when you’re 21-22, believe me

Definitely start at the Spirit for Happy Hour in Lawrenceville. Check the times. 1/2 prices on drinks and pizzas. Check the socials for the hours.

New Amsterdam to start the night, Belvedere’s for drinks and dancin - goldbar to end the night

Shadyside has Mario’s and Le Mardi Gras which aren’t too expensive (although heads up Le Mardi Gras is cash only). Both are good places if you don’t know what you want and just want chill. Bloomfield has Froggys, Silkeys, and Lot 17 which are all good neighborhood places. Tina’s down the street is a little more expensive but has a cool vibe and a great list of drinks. New Am in Lawrenceville is good for a 21st, and Bar Botanico is a good spot for a classier cocktail. I love Round Corner Cantina and Grapperia too.

Honestly the best thing might be to hover over an area on google maps and search “bars” and then look at the pics and reviews and menus and see if that fits your plan and budget for the evening!

Find the dirtiest dingiest dive one that is possibly in a house with no ventilation and still has smoking. The only way you know it’s a bar is by the lone Budweiser neon in one window. Beer is only bottled. Shots of Kessler’s are mandatory. If you’re lucky, there’s pickled eggs in a jar at the end of the bar. This is the only Pittsburgh way.

My perpetual Pittsburgh 21st birthday suggestion is to start at Kelly’s for cocktails and then go to Belvedere’s for PBRs and dancing. It’s a winning combo.

Saw the headline "best bars" and assumed we were going to talk about rappers from Pittsburgh.

Carson Street. Start at 10th and walk. By the time you reach 18th, certainly something will look interesting. Or you’ll be shitfaced from the pub crawl.

Where do you live? I like the Warren in downtown.

I like Redbeard's on Sixth, its a sports bar type atmosphere. I was also going to say Ten Penny on Penn Ave but it would appear that has been changed to Carpino now. It has been 2 years since I have been downtown but I will be there for a week in April which I am looking forward to.

It gets (and deserves) lots of hate but Tequila Cowboy and the surrounding bars are the new mecca for 21st birthdays. IMO Belvederes and Goldmark in Lawrenceville are much more fun.

Basically Tequila Cowboy if you like Morgan Wallen’s music and the latter if the thought of his music makes you ill.
