Anybody have a local mechanic they can vouch for? I am from out-of-state but recently had the catalytic converter stolen off the bottom of my car. I am weighing the pros and cons of driving ridiculously slowly to get to NYC and have my trusted mechanic handle it, or if I can find someone here who will not try to scam me. I'd like to buy the part, have it installed, and possibly put a cage on it.

Edited to say THANK YOU to all who contributed. I will dig into these options.

I have always trusted east side auto (at the end of Blackstone Blvd, on hope st) in PVD. I moved here almost 20 years ago, and when another mechanic tried to convince my roommate to get her engine fixed, these guys were honest and told her it was a waste of time and money. They have always been honest with me and I would recommend them to anyone.

Good luck

I have always had great interactions with Columbia Auto on Westminster. Good work and prices usually done pretty quick.

If your that worried about a simple replacement go get a couple quotes. I have a mechanic in east providence if you end up needing. Driving without your cat to New York will make your head hurt lol.

PD Autobody in Olneyville. Very honest, and has kept my old car operational.
