Here's where they get the info, without any ads:

6-8 hours or more usually. I'd just download the 311 app and manually check the city's and mayor's social media feeds by late afternoon.
Where do people go to park if they only have street parking during a ban?
Any where they can.. I've been lucky enough to have friends with extra parking spots. Worst case scenario, one could park at the mall overnight.
I think there was a few pilot programs last year with streets were exempt from the parking ban, not sure if that is still happening. I think they were somewhere in the area of Dexter park? Otherwise it think you would have to park in a lot.
This is a couple of years old, but they’re still doing it.

Ha. Like people are going to move their cars. The only reason we have a night time parking ban is due to derelict vehicles.
This was just posted on the City of Providence FB page - no mention of a parking ban
“Snow is forecasted for the City of Providence beginning tonight at 11PM through 7AM the following morning. Freezing rain is also expected for Tuesday afternoon and temperatures will remain below freezing through Tuesday night.
There will be a one-day trash delay starting tonight.”
Mayor Smiley is all over the news, giving interviews, and no mention of a parking ban yet. I think we’re in the clear.
fwiw, the city already posted a notice about trash pickup tomorrow and it doesn't meant a ban. I'd be kinda shocked if that changes.
One time the email didn’t go through until the next day. 🙄 (but since we are all actually checking the news this fine evening, I think we are in the clear today.)
Confirmed there is NOT a parking ban: https://twitter.com/stephmachado/status/1630345579271159811?s=46&t=utUxe4KEu6Gg9DgUXGYs9Q
YIPPEE AGAIN! Thank you
That's shocking! They've done bans for much less snow fall.
On the east side I'd park behind the butcher on gano but there was also a large lot near the boat ramp others used. I just made sure to move as soon as the ban was lifted.
I’m planning on moving onto wickenden pretty soon and was wondering if that parking lot behind the coffee exchange and adlers would be a good go to spot
Mayor Smiley doesn’t want to mess up anything and become Mayor of IceTown.
There's a privately managed one near the church, are you talking about that one? I bet you'd get fined or towed. I wouldn't fuck with a private lot.

Unfortunately there’s no real system for it. They could announce it a day in advance for a big storm, or could announce it effective immediately.
I usually keep checking this page.
