This strikes me as a very Providence tradition. Never even heard of St Josephs day and the accompanying zeppole before moving here.
Who has the best in town? Where do YOU go?

Deluise Bakery on Chalkstone In Providence. But I give props to La Salle for their Led Zeppole t-shirts.
Yes but it needs to be the fried ones. Delicious.
Yup. Good point
Scialo’s in East Providence and/or Seekonk 😋
It's an Italian American tradition, popular all over the northeast
I moved to the west coast (San Francisco) and I discovered Zeppole aren't really a thing here. I went to 4 different bakeries yesterday looking for them and every single one was like "Huh what is that?"
Apparently their St Joseph's Day traditions include something slightly different called a "sfingi". It's like basically the Sicilian version of a zeppole.

For best Zeppoles I recommend Deluise Bakery or Sal’s. Both on Chalkstone Ave about a block away from each other.
In jersey, we called the cream filled dessert a ‘st joseph’ and fried dough ‘zeppole’
The Riverside Scialo’s is amazing !
Pastryland or the original Italian bakery
Vienna Bakery in Barrington
Pastryland Bakery in Smithfield definitely. My favorite is their ricotta Zeppole.
Pastryland's are ridiculously good.
People will doubt you, but it's my exact answer along with Pastryland.
