Miller’s

I mean, it depends on what you mean by “a roast beef sandwich”. It’s not a beef on weck, or a chicago hot beef, but if you’re just looking for a pile of rare-ish roast beef with some horseradish and cheese, Miller’s is more than solid.

It's a new england thing. Walts, kellys...pretty much anywhere on the north shore

It was under seasoned imo when i tried them, but very tender.

All those options sound intriguing — but the sandwich I'm looking for is peak flavor & peak simplicity: (med) rare road beef, kaiser roll, mayo, tomato, maybe shredded lettuce, maybe swiss cheese. It almost sounds boring, I know, but there’s roast beef — and then there’s Roast Beef. I'm looking for the sandwich that becomes your new standard.

Millers is one of the ones I’ve tried, and it was a little underwhelming.

Arby’s is worth the trip west In I80 I think you’ll start to see them pop up in western PA. Gimme that horsey sauce!

Just go to EP and hit up Italian Corner. If they ask if you want the pesto vinaigrette you say extra.

Agreed. I grew up in EP so I’d always have either Miller’s or Waltz. I just moved to NP and was recently introduced to Beef Barn and I can’t believe what I was missing out on. Miller’s and Waltz are both great but Beef Barn is next level and also like half the price

That's the way. The barbecue sauce they have there is ridiculous.

Not in Providence proper, but the Beef Barn is the closest I’ve found to the sandwiches of my youth on the North Shore of Boston.

“not in providence proper” is a massive understatement when referring to the north shore lmao. It’s not considered to be in boston proper! A cool hour and a half from here.

I haven't seen this commented yet, the roast beef sandwich from Pawtucket house of pizza is easily the best roast beef sandwich I've ever had. They also stuff it with like a whole pound of roast beef lmfao

Ricottis Roast Beef special. I always go to the Bristol location, but for me they make best roast beef sub. Also saw Millers in E.P. mentioned. Good stuff as well. And fwiw where did you get the disappointing sandwich? Have had some awful stuff from Walt's in Pawtucket. Edit: also Quality Fruitland deli in Seekonk. Had a killer roast beef last time I went. Made me smile it was that good.

Shores supermarket actually makes some good sandwiches and the roast beef is really good.

I tried millers and it was ok, tender but really lacking in flavor imo.
