My birthday is the middle of December and I’m celebrating it for the first time in 12 years. I’m looking for fun, “out of the norm” stuff to do in the middle of winter. I already have the bars and restaurant covered but nothing else. Any suggestions would work. Open to 420 friendly stuff too.

Try an escape room! There’s several good options in the area.

PVD: Escape Rhode Island

Pawtucket: Lock and Clue

Warwick: Riddle Room

Johnson: Ocean State Escape

I second escape rooms! Had my birthday (during a snowstorm in January) at a Escape Room and had a blast!

R1 Indoor Karting has axe throwing, karts, the Time Zone (which is a bunch of fun, little escape rooms), a little arcade, and food.

But can you throw the axes WHILE go karting

I don’t trust 75% of Rhode Islanders axe throwing capabilities.

Riff raff is a bar but also a bookstore. The Steel Yard has cool classes (welding, pottery, etc) Gather glass has glass blowing

Check out live music happening at the many venues we've got. I love going to random shows, you may end up seeing a gem.

Have you thought about trying out archery? There is a spot called Tangys in Warwick. For something more active, you could try paintball .

Completely left field suggestion here. I ran across this place totally by accident and have never heard it mentioned by anyone around here.

The world’s largest indoor ropes course, located inside Jordan’s Furniture in New Haven. https://www.itatjordans.com

Sounds super interesting, do you need to bring your own gun or do they have some there that you can use?

I am interested in this too. My son's 23rd bday is coming up and I know he'd love something like this.

They offer rentals. You will want to contact them about 1st time shooters. I believe there is some required instruction that they offer onsite as well.

The Peacedale Preserve has a similar offering. Rentals and instruction for new shooters.

A lot of art crawls in providence. Some even take you on a bus and drive you from gallery to gallery. An eatable or two before the bus ride might seal the deal.

The museums! There’s the RISD museum, the natural history, the whaling museum, the observatory at Brown I think that’s open to viewing.

So first I find out Roger Williams has a botanical garden and now you’re telling me there’s a history museum there? I’ve been there so many times and never even knew any of this was there.

It’s quite small but still worth a day trip! It’s wonderful learning new things about familiar places.

Only if you’re willing to drive/take a train to Boston, flight club in seaport is super fun and not crazy expensive. It’s a dart bar. Roughly $12 a person for an hour and a half of darts but I’m sure you could go even longer. I think it’s be great for a birthday

$12 a person….to PLAY DARTS?

What’s next, $10/person for a deck of cards.

Jumpy_Ring8409 t1_ir9ugns wrote

It’s not just darts. There are like interactive games connected to the dart board. And you have a server the whole time you’re there. It’s literally the same price as bowling

Providence Improv Guild has great, fun shows! Hey, my bday is also mid December 😄 Birthday buddies!!

Also, there’s a fun ax throwing place too. I went there last year for my bday 😊

I’m definitely going axe throwing. Improve is an awesome suggestion. I looked at comedy connection to see if they had anyone booked for the day I had off and they didn’t.

I’m the 15th. We’re celebrating that Saturday. It’s going to be an all day thing. Starting with a drag brunch hopefully.

Oh, cool! There’s also a place called Sweet Little Variety Show that is only once a month. Take a look at their website to see if it coincides but I think it’s on Thursdays, not Saturdays.

Mine is the 18th - if I’m in town, maybe we’ll bump into each other!

I know you said you have bars covered, but if you like karaoke, BoomBox is great, and the private room prices are very reasonable if your group is big enough.

Freeplay!!! You pay a fee to get in then you can play all the old school arcade games as much as you want. There is a bar if you want to grab a drink or some pizza.

If you want to do a class w friends - I suggest glassblowing! Reasonably priced on the hill.
