How hard is it to insulate your own steam pipes? I had the asbestos removed two years ago and need to insulate them before winter sets in. If it's too complicated, what Providence area companies can do it? I see SteamWorks does. Are there any others?

No, just get the stuff from Home Depot. It’s pre wrapped. I did mine and I’m a total home maintenance dunce.

Last time I looked home depot and lowes didn't have the good fiberglass insulation you should use. https://www.buyinsulationproductstore.com/ Has what you want along with videos showing you what to do. The " sweet spot" between cost and return seems to be mostly agreed to be 1 inch thick.

I had mine removed just before last winter and the difference was noticeable. My bill went way up without the insulation. I'm about to tackle this project on mine, too. As I mentioned in another comment, I think I'm going to order from https://www.buyinsulationproductstore.com. Home Depot doesn't have as much of a selection.

Don’t use the cheap foam stuff—use the rigid fiberglass type
