Hi all!

I’ve been putting off a visit to the dentist for some years now because of a super traumatic personal incident that randomly coincided with a trip to one.

I’ve finally gotten to a good place mentally and have decided it’s time to address my dental health (and to fix an old damaged filling most presently). I am looking for recommendations for dentists in the Providence and RI area in general who are accepting new patients, and specifically those that are kind and non-judgmental.

I have decent insurance, so payment is not a concern of mine. Just want to make sure I’m walking into a place that will be understanding—because this has been a hard first step for me to take—and I want to make sure that I’m introducing myself into a positive environment.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Page Family Dentistry near Hope Street. I was in the same position you are just a couple weeks ago. I went to Dr. Page on recommendation from my parents and the staff there is incredible. Very understanding, warm and professional.

I second this! I’ve been going to Dr. Page since I started going as a kid and I’ve never been scared of the dentist :) I actually get excited for cleanings :D

Perfect Smiles in Seekonk. They are awesome. I had severe anxiety about getting my teeth taken care of after many many years of neglect but they have been just great. Free nitrous if you request it. You can watch TV while in the heated massage chair while they work on you. It is awesome. haha I had a ton of work done and only one more procedure left to do. The only time I felt any kind of pain was the day after an extraction. Didn't feel any pain with the crowns/onlays I had done.

I second this. They specialize in people with anxiety with dentistry, they have a spotless facility and the staff is fantastic. They take Care Credit and most insurance policies. I love it because I watch TV in a massage chair during all appointments. I won’t go anywhere else. 👍🏼

It really is pretty great. I only have minor anxiety about it these day but once I'm in the chair it's all good. I go for cleanings every 3 months or so. I get the same hygienist each visit and she's great. I'm deaf (wear hearing aids) and she makes sure I understand everything during the visit. It really helps ease my anxieties over it. Been going there 4 years now.

Yup, jumping on board this recommendation here. They even offer stronger sedation than nitrous, if your anxiety is that severe (not free, but depending on discomfort levels it’s worth it for some people!). Everyone I’ve seen here has been incredibly friendly and soothing, very respectful of people who are uncomfortable at the dentist and they make every effort to make it as comfortable as possible.

Thank you so much for your comment! The nitrous is a huuuuge plus. Not to delve too deeply, but my last trip to the dentist I got a call that my dad had died while I was waiting for novocaine to kick in, and had to roll through the rest of that insane day with a completely numb and drooling mouth lol. I haven’t had novocaine since then and was really trying to avoid it if possible, so this is great. Sounds like exactly the vibe I was searching for. Thank you again!

Aesthetic Dental Studio of RI in North Prov!! It’s staffed by all women (that I’ve seen) who are all very caring and supportive. Best dentist I’ve ever been to, hands down. I’ve been so happy with them for everything.

Not quite “in the area,” per se, but Advanced Mansfield Dental has been great with me. Nobody likes having dental work done, and they make me feel as if I have a caring mother looking after me. Dr. Brown over there has been great in also explaining the how’s and why’s and is very patient with any questions and is always doing comfort checks vs. charging headfirst into a sensitive situation.

Their office is clean, new, and confidence inspiring. Highly recommend.

I love Drs. Votolato and Pazzienza on Wayland. Now Dr. Griffin Votolato (the son) has joined the practice and he's really good. Just started a crown on a broken molar for me. HIGHLY recommend.
