Are you willing to share the names of nearby streets? I ask because I live about a half mile away, and we hear more from RIC and LaSalle than Mount Pleasant.
In most cases, any sporting event noise is over fairly early and it's mostly announcements and cheering.
Thanks for advice! The property we're looking at is to the southwest of the high school and stadium. It looks like Smith Street in North Providence would be northwest (if I'm plugging everything into Google Maps correctly). Appreciate it.
Sure! Thanks for asking. Nearby cross streets are Ortoleva Drive, Imera Street, and Hillcrest Ave.
We were particularly worried about football games at night, so it's good to hear that they tend to finish up fairly early. We see there is a game tomorrow night, so we're planning to check the area out while it's going on.
Traffic will depend entirely on the street and time of day. Some are cut throughs, others are not.
As to noise I am a quarter mile from Lasalle(and also within a half mile of Mt Pleasant). I can here the public address announcer at Lasalle faintly if I am outdoors during a game.
If you want to message the address happen to share any insight I can provide.
Thank you! I have to hop offline for a bit to commute home and run an errand, but I'll enable messaging later this evening and share the address. Really appreciate it!
Yes. I used to deliver pizza all around that area… there are a lot of good neighborhoods between woonasquatucket Ave and smith or Put it this way… that’s where I felt more comfortable with a pocket full of cash at the end of the night.
I used to live a couple streets down and the noise is minimal. Traffic is always meh due to Chalkstone being…Chalkstone
I just checked Zillow for properties for sale SW of Mount Pleasant. If it’s anything next to or within a short walk of Triggs Golf Course you should be ok. That’s Chalkstone Ave. But, avoid Manton Ave, that’s a bit rough. Chalkstone is at the top of Mount Pleasant (hill) and Manton Ave is at the bottom of that hill.
Don’t listen to that guy, the area around Mt. Pleasant High is incredibly safe. It’s a quiet residential neighborhood, mostly single family houses. If you go down Chalkstone a bit toward downtown, it gets a little dicey, but even then it’s not one of the more dangerous parts of the city.
I'm back after my commute and running an errand. Thank you! We're going to check it out in person tomorrow during the daytime and the evening. I really appreciate you saying this.
I'm back after commuting and running an errand -- thank you. It's helpful to hear the noise is minimal. I had a feeling Chalkstone might be a busier street from looking via Street View on Google Maps so it's help to hear that traffic is "meh", too.
Of course! Happy to dispel any other myths you might hear about Providence. The news has convinced a lot of people that it’s a crime-ridden hellscape when it’s really one of the safer cities of its size in the country. I live a few minutes away from the area where you’re looking and drive through there often. It’s a nice working/middle class residential neighborhood. You’ll get some foot traffic from high school kids after school ends and occasional faint noise from LaSalle football games at night, but other than that, it’s a peaceful and pleasant area.
I live just a couple hundred yards up the street from the stadium and it doesn’t effect us at all. The games don’t draw much of a crowd so traffic is definitely not an issue. If I take the dog out during a game I can hear the announcer calling the game but I don’t notice it when I’m inside.
So awesome to hear. Truly, thank you for this.
I appreciate this. I was a little nervous about posting this question as I don't use Reddit much, but the specificity of the comments has been so helpful . Thank you!
I live right off of Manton Ave and I am so sick of hearing this stereotype. Manton & Mount Pleasant are equally great neighborhoods. I feel just as safe walking down Manton Ave as I do Mount Pleasant.
I live nearby, off of Cathedral. I only hear stadium noise if I'm in my yard. It's never been loud enough to bother me.
You'll likely hear more from your neighbors than from Conley Stadium. Ortoleva is a little bit of a cut-through street, but it's not high speed from what I can tell. It's not fancy, but it's a fine neighborhood.
This is exactly it. Thanks for summarizing the area (and the city) so well!
Awesome - thank you so much for sharing!
Good to know - thanks! I'm delighted to be hearing from folks living so close by to where we are looking.
Gotcha - knowing about the proximity to the golf course is super helpful!
This is also helpful to hear. I'm excited to walk around there very soon.

It’s not the best of areas. You’re better off sliding further down smith street closer to or in North Providence
