My spouse and I have a very rare day off with childcare and want to take advantage. Are there any splurge-y restaurants open for lunch during the week?

Hemenways!! Downtown near the Brown/RISD campus. Great food and desserts, waitstaff are great, and you will feel fancy just by walking in that place, but not pretentiously so. It is very open with high ceilings and looks over the river. Try to get a seat on the water side near the big window

No clue if they're open or not for Black Friday but Parkside is always a blast for lunch

Kin was one of the most mediocre southern food I’ve had in my life. The cornbread tasted burnt and like… gas? The chicken sandwich I got was far too tough and sparsely seasoned. Only good thing were the fried green tomatoes. Everything else was less than mid.

I agree with you. I really wanted to like it but it was just not great cooking.
