I have used red or white miso paste in my soups and stews for years. But recently, I have not been able to find it.

I used to get it at Market Basket, but I haven't been able to find it in the last month or two. I normally buy it in ~1 pound bags - white or red.

Have you seen it locally? If so, where?

I always got it at the Asiana Food Market in east providence - I think Good Fortune has it as well.

I LOVE Good Fortune, and I assumed they would have it but don't get there that often.

But you're right, I should go there. I also love the greens there, the fresh Udon noodles, the cooking sauces, and the frozen dumplings.

I saw it a few days ago - in the fridge near the tofu, all the way to the right, after the produce.

Good Fortune is my happy place tbh. V-Mart is also good!

Asiana on Warren Ave in East Providence is a small family business. They’ll have it too

In addition to the aforementioned Whole Foods and Good Fortune, I have gotten it at Mi Rae on Reservoir Ave in Cranston.

I’ve seen it at urban greens in the past as well as all the other places people have mentioned

Ironically, I joined Urban Greens long ago, to support local. I haven't been in a long while. I'll definitely check it out!

I just saw some miso at the Market Basket in Warwick today. It was in a small bag, not the 1 pounders. Eastside Market on Pitman St also used to carry miso, but they’ve gone downhill in terms of specialty stuff now, so not sure if they’d have it. Good Fortune is definitely your best bet though.

Market Basket in N Attleboro has it in their international aisle

That's where I've always gotten it in the past, but I haven't seen it in the past month or so. I don't think I've ever seen it at the Johnston store. Hence the question...

I'll check again. Maybe it was a holiday thing.

An employee there told me that international foods are sourced by an outside buyer (not sure if they meant an outside company or just not at their store) and would sometimes disappear or get replaced with something different temporarily. I needed palm sugar 3 months ago when I asked, and I think it’s reappeared and disappeared since then.

I found it! They had both red and white miso at my old go-to - Market Basket in Attleboro. I haven't seen it at the Johnston store.

I got one of each. Kabuto 1lb package for $3.69.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely check out the other recommendations.

Also, check out Good Fortune Market in South Providence. I’m there now, and there’s a wide assortment of miso.
