The only store that might sell in RI is the Metcalf store on the RISD campus but I am unsure if they are open to the public, if they have clay in store or if the ceramic department handles that for their students directly. You could give them a call.
I will also say that I put in an order w Sheffield last week and it came fairly quickly. I’ve ordered in the past from The Ceramic Shop and it took a bit of time to receive that package.

If you like Sheffield clay theres a place in Attleboro MA called greg dorrance co on oakhill ave that sells it. The guy that owns the shop is super super nice. Ive gotten it there a few times.
I was looking for laguna or standard brand clay.

I’ve gotten Laguna delivered from The Ceramic Shop online …
you could, maybe pick up some Laguna from Anyhow Studio or The Steel Yard in PVD. One has 55, one has 66. I don’t know if they will sell if you are not in class or a member but again, you can give them a call.

Pretty sure the CCRI Warwick campus sells bags of clay in the bookstore & the artists exchange in Cranston sells clay (reclaimed and also new) good luck!

Your best bets locally are Portland Pottery in Braintree MA or Sheffield Pottery in Sheffield MA. You can order Sheffield online.
