If you were truly happy you wouldn't have had an emotional affair with another guy there's no fixing this he will move on and find someone who values him and not hurt him the way you did.

You are correct. I’ve always thought he deserves someone much better than me. I love him and I want him to be happy.

Give him space, go to therapy if you can, and figure out why decide to have an emotional affair while you were happy with your ex-boyfriend.
