So, as I says in the title this a very new situation for me and I don't really have someone in my social circle to discuss this with.

There's this girl that joined my company a few months ago. We don't work directly together, she's in a different division in a different office within the same building. Due to some of my tasks I often end up in that other office. By time I started stopping by her desk more and more and chatting to her. I always feel like I'm being a bit too silly, but I never felt like she minds too much. After a couple weeks like that she started texting me in private on the company slack, and she started telling me whenever someone brought snacks to their office so I'd come over and have some while we chat.

Now the other day, she showed up in my "people you may know" on Instagram and I decided to send her followrequest because we get along well. She accepted it and started texting me pretty soon. I'm not overly active on Instagram, I only ever post smth when I go to a hockey or football game. She asked if that's all I ever after work, and I was like yeah kinda. She then asked me if I'd ever want to switch it up and go for drinks with her.

I was really surprised at first but I agreed, because I like chatting with her and I think it be nice to get to know eachother outside of the work environment. But I'm not really sure what to expect, because in all my years 8 years of corporate life have I had a female coworker ask me out to smth one-on-one outside of work hours. And in general I'm not the most confident person, so I often have trouble believing/recognising whether someone 'likes' me or is just being nice. So I'm really not sure how to approach this, would love any input/advice.

Edit: Thanks a lot for all your feedback. I'm usually a very shy guy so outright asking "are you into me?" isn't really something I'd want to do and I feel like it'd be awkward either way. We've been talking some more and I tried to be as open as possible so I can see where she's at. At first I thought she just wanted to grab a drink after work, but now we'll meet on Saturday evening for dinner and drinks afterwards. Seems like it's a date. Tbh there's not really a specific word for "date" in the language we speak so it'd be difficult to gauge.

I will go in without any expectations because frankly I'm not entirely sure how I feel about her either. I generally try not to mix work people with my private stuff so much. But she's really cute, we get along very well and we actually don't work together at all. We'll see I guess.

It sounds like you are both interested in each other and she potentially asked you on a date. Go and have fun. Try to be your most confident self.
