Sorry for the clickbait title i need an opinion. Also if anyone knows a better place to post this let me know. So me and my girlfriend just broke up and i have to move multiple states over. Going through a break up and the stress of starting over in another state i really want to bring my cat she means a lot to me but where im moving theres no animals. Where im currently living theres 5 other cats for her and shes never bored I just feel like the best thing for my cat is to leave her with my ex. I seriously need advice do i take her with me and obviously im gonna play and pet her all the time or do i leave her here with all her animal friends?

If you truly think your cat will be happier with your ex, that seems like the right decision. From what you describe your cat is used to having plenty of fellow cats to hang out with. It may be quite a shock to move them.

However, if you keep your cat's best interest at heart, nobody would blame you for keeping YOUR cat.

Does your ex have a claim to this cat, or has it always been exclusively yours?

Theres no dispute in who owns which cats. This breakup is the best breakup i have ever seen. Sorry that sounds weird but its just a needed breakup for our mental health. I understand that shes my cat and no ones gonna blame me but I really just wanna know if anyone thinks my cat will be happy with me where i move.

That is a difficult choice, but if she is well taken care of and will be, it is a reasonable choice if you have to make it.

(When hes in the mood hes a dog person)

I think you should leave her if she's happy. It's important to do what's best for your pet, even if it's not what would make you happiest.

If you take your cat, she’ll have an adjustment period getting used to your new place, but cats are pretty resilient and can adapt.

If you decide to take her with you, be sure to bring something from where she lived before - like a cat bed or a catnip toy.

It’ll have her scent on it, which will give her some comfort.
