It's not just the sharing it with me that bugs me, it's him willingly listening to it from his friends etc. Like I guess I just wonder why he has to do that since I think it's pretty gross and unnecessary, but I'm not a guy, so maybe that's normal?

You're allowed to find it gross, and not every guy likes it (or every woman hates it). That said, what are you looking for here? So you want to ask him to leave the room when his friends talk about it? That's an impractical boundary, and at that point it somes more like an issue with him as a person. Maybe you are not compatible.

Yes, some people have that as a boundary. It's OK for you to be offended and not want to be with someone who doesn't feel the same way as you.
