Just looking for other viewpoints.

I’m seeing a guy as of five months now and things are pretty good. We see each other weekly, communicate everyday etc etc. I told him last week I would like to spend NYE with him as he said he didn’t make any confirmed plans yet. He responds that he will be with his guy friends for NYE and that kinda stung. I wonder if I’m making the holiday a bigger deal than what it is. Do people view this as a couples holiday? I just wonder why you wouldn’t want to see me at any point during the night whether included in on the plans or after you leave “the guys”.

Is this worth expressing I’m a little sad/bummed about it or just let it go?

Well I mean we aren’t technically “official” we’ve had a conversation where we determined we aren’t seeing other people maybe a week before Christmas. We both celebrated with our own families in separate states but came together this past week to exchange gifts. I guess I’ll take fault for making an assumption that we would hang since we’re normally together on weekends anyway.

For some couples, yes.

For all couples, no.

You get to decide if NYE is something that you want as a "couples" holiday.

I would certainly say something. NYE is generally a holiday you spend with your partner if you have one because of the midnight kiss. I guess if he has a tradition with his guy friends it might not have occurred to him, but relationships mean making some compromises when it comes to significant events.

I am used to being with the person I’m dating on NYE so I made an assumption that we would by default. (Especially because we’re typically together on Saturdays anyway)

I don't think that's a wild assumption to make, I would too after five months together.

Is the group he's meeting all guys? Do any of them have partners?

They are all guys. I know one has a girlfriend but I don’t know if she’s going and we’re not friends where I would ask. I just feel weird about it. Don’t necessarily want to make this a big defining moment but it does bother me a bit..
