Richmond, VA 13-14 Year Old Birthday Ideas

Hey Reddit,
I am tasked with coming up with a fun birthday party this weekend for some 13-14 year old boys.

I am really stumped, such a hard age and don't have ton$ to spend. I really want them to do something that would be more young adult than kid stuff. These kids did not have great birthdays during the pandemic so want this to be cool.

Any tours that are exciting.... Ghost tours maybe?
Any Comedy clubs for kids other than Comedy Sports?
Paint ball maybe? So many parents seem squeamish with gun events right now but open to the idea.

This is my vote. A giant, live-action arcade game where you compete against friends by hitting balls.

I know cost is a factor, so I would go earlier in the day as pricing adjusts throughout the day. One bay holds 6 players so if there are more than 6 you would need an additional bay. Also, the hourly price is for the bay, not per player.

Its a little pricier, but the birthday parties at some of the rock climbing places are quite amazing.

I know you can rent out a movie theater screening room? A friend did it was maybe $100 or so? But another cool option

Paintball. I can't think of anything that would more fun when I was a 14 yr old boy. Wish this was more popular 25 yrs ago.

You basically need 2 things at this age, food and fun.

Cheap food is pizza at Costco.

Free:
Mountain biking at Pocohantas or Belle Isle
Skateboarding at local skatepark
Organize a scavenger hunt in your neighborhood or a park.
Buy a couple of red ryder BB guns or youth archery kits
Play the start with a penny and trade up game

Paid but on the cheaper side:
Richmond Draftcade is pretty sweet ($10 per person)
The spring race at RIR can be done pretty cheap for kids.
Take the train to DC for the day. Tickets for kids are 50% off right now

One year, I was lucky enough to find a weekend intro to archery class through Parks & Rec. It was a perfect activity and cheap for multiple kids. It was a big hit.
