Hi — Posting for a friend who is going through a messy divorce that has tanked her credit. Her and her spouse are trying to sell their house (which they’re behind on payments) and she needs to find a place to live asap. She applied for one apartment and was denied. Looking for any recs on places that work with people who have bad credit but can pay months in advance or a larger deposit, has a co-signer, and has references.

If she has a co-signer, I would think any place she could afford the rent would be fine. I had shit credit coming out of college, but had my mother as a co-signer on my apts. I’ve never been turned down for a rental. I’ve rented with Metro, Pollard and Bagby, Thalmer, One Scott’s Addition, and Dickson. Currently rent through Neville C. Johnson and i recommend them very highly. Though I no longer have a co-signer these days.

Just rented my house out through NCJ because of how people talk about them here, glad to see it reinforced!

Had a friend in a similar divorce situation they were able to get a place at the apartments on Forest Hill and Cedar.

per recollection Virginia makes it pretty hard to pay in advance.

One of the shitty apartment buildings on southside would work. Bad credit isn't going to lead to a nice place.
