I had some unsatisfactory conditions in my new apartment but my landlord addressed them properly. I’m willing to be interviewed but I’m not sure I’m the story you’re lookin to tell

If you need to interview someone that’s extremely satisfied with their landlord… let me know.

Since it's going to be nice Tue-Th, you could probably get some poster board and write your request, and hang out in Monroe Park. I'm sure there are plenty of students who live off of campus that have issues with the places they are renting...

aren't reporters supposed to report news, not create news? This sounds like the story is written and now you are plugging things in, which would be the reverse of how it is supposed to be, that's PR.

But look at all the RRHA tenant complaints that come up about bad maintenance and you should find someone. Or go down to Southwood on Hull.

Ironically the RRHA, a city dept basically, leads the area in evictions and maintenance complaints. If the city cared they would put their own house in order first

Respectfully, people don’t often express concerns to student journalists in the same way that they do in a professional newsroom setting. I don’t have an abundance of people looking to me to report their issues. And even as professional journalist, it is often finding someone willing to speak on whatever it is you are covering.

It has not at all been written, I am just aware that an important part of this story is finding someone who has dealt with these issues themselves. The story in this case is relating the adoption of this resolution to issues that residents within the city have dealt with for years. Sometimes it happens the other way around. It’s all still finding news.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll check them out.

Isn't it still fundamentally assuming the conclusion? See the discussion of it here, where a bunch of us think this is a gentrification proposal

You never saw me asking for tenants that agree or disagree with the adoption of the resolution, that is for them to tell me. We all know the simple fact of the matter here and that is that many residences within the city are unsafe and requests by tenants are often ignored.

It’s not assuming any conclusion to ask for people that experience these issues to tell me if this does or doesn’t seem like a solution to their problems and why they feel that way.

I agree with you. In fact, I could add a few horrible property managers to the list. Though RRHA and southwood really do seem to be the worst from the data.

But an article should involve nuance. And the news seems to be dropping it. Your last sentence is far more appealing, but I still thinnk the news should drive the story, not the story drive the news.

given that I didn’t write several comments harassing a student journalist yesterday, yeah, I feel pretty good about how I spent my time

given you think that's harrassment, maybe you could spend your time educating yourself so you seem less dim?

no, I’m telling you that you were being an asshole to a student journalist, so much so that several people had to tell you to stop
