It’s always felt weird to me that Richmond airport literally closes. I guess it’s normal at small airports. But one time I had an early morning flight and there was a mechanical issue and they had to call some guy and wake him up so he could drive out to the airport to fix it. Then he didn’t know how to fix it so they had to bring in some guy from DC and then they got there and they couldn’t fix it either lol

The TSA checkpoint also closes unreasonably early. My sister once made it to the checkpoint 30 minutes before a late night flight (think around 10pm) and they were closing up shop.

She had to beg them to let her through.

The TSA people at RIC are particularly assholish too. I hate all them wannabe cops but fuck RIC TSA in particular.

It takes a special kind of dipshit to make you take your belt off and then bitch at you because your pants are falling down.

Right! I flew with my toddler recently and had liquids (milk) in excess of 3oz to feed her with. Totally permissible by TSA, I looked up all the rules before packing.

At Richmond, multiple TSA officers were questioning my reasons for having milk and lecturing me about how I should have put the milk in a clear bottle because otherwise it “takes extra time” (turned out to be a 30 second affair). When I flew home from Puerto Rico I got not of the attitude whatsoever.

Technically it almost never “closes”, just all the services close (food, airlines, rentals, security). As long as the CRAC police are there it’s “open”.
